Vivian was the first and one of the largest diesel manufacturers in Canada. Both stationary and marine engines were sold around the world and used extensively on BC coast fish boats. The company also produced over 600 engines during World War II. In addition to over 90 separate models, the company also maintained a custom-design service for special uses. Vivian Engine Works illustrates the scope of manufacturing in BC that arose to satisfy the needs of marine and other industries both here and abroad.
