Cottage Tub-Sink
Blythe Rogers, Rand Ireland, Vancouver, c. late 1960s

This wash basin, and shower-tub, made from fiberglass weighed 60 pounds including metal fixtures and plastic plumbing and was designed for cottages.

“Available in white, blue or any colour desired the unit costs about $140, around the cost of a similar porcelain unit. But it has several advantages: the unit can be moulded into any shape to suit each room or purpose: there is a full range of colours: it has the light weight factor: and its plumbing is more simplified because its shower, taps and drains are used for both tube and basin.”

The architectural firm of Rhone and Ireland consulted with Blythe Rogers to develop the design for a cottage on Mayne Island.
